AMD Shows off the Ryzen 'Mendocino' Chipset for Cheap and Battery-Efficient Laptops

AMD announced many new products at the Computex 2022 event.

One product that has caught the attention of fans is a new chipset called Ryzen Mendocino.

Ryzen Mendocino is in the spotlight not because of its extraordinary gaming capabilities, but rather because of its affordable price and excellent power efficiency.

At the Computex 2022 event, AMD designed Ryzen Mendocino for entry-level laptops.

AMD Ryzen Mendocino combines four Zen 2 CPU cores with the latest RDNA 2 graphics.

This chipset is manufactured with a 6nm fabrication process by the semiconductor company TSMC.

RDNA 2 graphics support makes AMD Ryzen Mendocino expected to be able to run light competitive esports games such as Dota 2, Valorant, CS: GO, etc.

Unfortunately, AMD is still reluctant to provide further information about the graphics capabilities of AMD Ryzen Mendocino.

AMD says that Ryzen Mendocino will have excellent power efficiency.

AMD's technical marketing director, Robert Hallock, claims that a laptop powered by Ryzen Mendocino will last more than 10 hours in a single battery life.

"At a minimum, we want 10 hours of use from this notebook," said Robert Hallock as quoted from The Verge.

This 10-hour usage period applies to Windows and Chromebook operating systems

Price and Release Schedule

As mentioned earlier, AMD Ryzen Mendocino will be priced at an affordable price.

Robert Hallock said that AMD Ryzen Mendocino would be embedded in laptops with a price range starting from Rp. 5 million to 10 million.

AMD Ryzen Mendocino will launch in Q4 2022 or around October - December 2022.
