iPhone 14 Front Camera Production Costs Reportedly Soaring High, this is the Cause!

Apple will reportedly use a new supplier for the front camera on the iPhone 14 .

Quoted from ET News , this is the first time Apple will use the front camera component for the iPhone from a manufacturer from South Korea.

This is done by Apple because they want to change the supply chain management (SCM) that was used previously, namely from China to other manufacturers in South Korea.

In full, the manufacturers that will work on the front camera of the iPhone 14 are LG Innotek from South Korea and Sharp from Japan.

Previously, it was mentioned that Apple would only use LG Innotek for the front camera on the iPhone 15 , aka next year.

However, this plan was accelerated to this year for the production of the iPhone 14.

Still from the source page, it was also stated that the reason why Apple switched to LG Innotek was that there was a problem in the quality of production from Chinese that would be invited to cooperate and was canceled for this year.

So far, the production cost for the front camera of the iPhone has always been priced at only a third of the unit production price for the rear camera of the same device.

By switching to South Korea , the cost of production and the quality of the front camera used will increase, one of which is also because of the specs that Apple .

Rumor has it that the front camera of the iPhone 14 will carry Auto Focus technology and a series of other new functions.

This will have an impact on production costs which increase up to 3 times.

For information, so far LG Innotek has been used by Apple to supply rear camera components on iPhone devices.

For this year they will get even more orders from Apple because they are also working on the front camera component.

In addition to camera components, the South Korean company will also work on several main optical parts such as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), camera PCBs, and actuators.

To date, LG Innotek has supplied optical components which are then assembled into modules by LG, before being supplied to Apple.
