Ridwan Kamil's Child Missing, Swiss Police Reveals 2 Reasons for Difficult Searching in the Aare River

Police in Bern, Switzerland, revealed two reasons for the difficulty of searching for Ridwan Kamil's son , Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril (23), who went missing in the Aare River.

Eril, the son of Ridwan Kamil , disappeared when he was swept away by the swift current of the Aare River when he was about to rise to the surface on Thursday (26/5/2022). Until this news was uploaded he had not been found.

When contacted by The Newbie News in Switzerland, Krisna Diantha Akassa on Friday (27/5/2022), Public Relations of Police Bern Patrick Jean explained, there are two reasons why it is difficult to find missing or drowned people in the Aare River, the longest river in Switzerland.

First, the waters of the Aare River are now cloudy due to melting snow. That is why the six-hour search since Ridwan Kamil's son went missing has yielded no results.

Second, the search can only be done by boat because there are many trees around the Aare River, so it is not possible to use a helicopter.

Meanwhile, the Bern police received a report that a missing person was swept away by the current in the Aare River around Thursday (26/5/2022) at around 9.45 am.

The exact location of Eril's disappearance is in the town of Schonau Steg, province of Bern, Switzerland.

Patrick Jean confirmed that there were three tourists from Indonesia who swam in the Aare River, namely two women and one man.

It was the latter man who was later reported missing, but the Bern police were reluctant to reveal his identity or status as the son of the governor of West Java, Indonesia, because it was not within their jurisdiction.

According to Krisna Diantha's observations during her stay in Switzerland, before June usually no one swims in the Aare River because it is not yet in season.

In addition, the water is still cold and cloudy due to melting snow and the strong current is another reason.

"On average, foreigners or tourists drown because they don't know," said Krisna, adding that the average time for finding someone who was lost in the current was a week.

The search for Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz will continue on Friday (27/5/2022) indefinitely, Patrick Jean added.

Ridwan Kamil's family is abroad. The governor of West Java is currently on an official trip in England with a delegation from the West Java Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil's wife and two children are in Switzerland looking for a master's degree school for Eril.
