Recently, Apple received a lawsuit from users regarding the AirPods Pro .

According to Law 360 (via MacRumors ), AirPods Pro allegedly ruptured the eardrums of a 12-year-old boy in the United States.

The boy is experiencing hearing problems after hearing a very loud AMBER Alert through his AirPods Pro.

Chronology

The AirPods Pro incident broke the eardrums of a 12-year-old boy in the US in 2020.

At the time of the incident, a 12-year-old boy with the initials BG was watching a movie on Netflix on his iPhone while wearing AirPods Pro.

The AirPods Pro are said to be set at a low volume but the AMBER Alert notification suddenly flashes without any warning.

The AMBER Alert notification emitted a high-pitched sound and damaged BG's eardrum.

Not only that, BG also suffered from cochlear damage and ear injuries.

Since the incident, BG has suffered from dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, nausea, and permanent hearing loss in his right ear.

BG must also wear hearing aids to communicate.

Contents of Claim

Apple is accused of producing flawed AirPods that don't automatically reduce alert volume or equalize notification and alert volumes.

The lawsuit blames Apple for failing to include a warning about the potential problem.

Additionally, the lawsuit claims that Apple was aware of the alleged design flaw.

As a direct result of Apple's negligence, BG suffered serious temporary and permanent injuries.

The lawsuit aims to seek compensation for BG and his parents who suffered serious emotional distress due to the AirPods Pro incident.

The plaintiffs also want appropriate penalties for Apple so that other technology companies are not implicated in such violations in the future.

AMBER Alert

For those of you who don't know, AMBER Alert is an emergency notification system that notifies residents when the police are tracking a missing person and there is information that this person may be around the user.

Apple has included AMBER Alert notifications as well as other government emergency notifications across iPhone devices.

Users can manage the use of AMBER Alert in the device settings section.

If the user activates this feature, AMBER Alert will ring on the user's iPhone when there is an emergency notification from the government.

AMBER Alert notifications vary depending on the level of emergency that the government is notified of.
