The reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is targeted at 29 percent independently or 41 percent if it gets international encouragement. One of the strategic efforts that have been carried out in Indonesia is the application of the Euro 4 emission standard for diesel since April 2022.
PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) launched the Mercedes-Benz Axor Euro 4. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said this was the first product from a European brand to introduce trucks with Euro 4 standards in Indonesia.
The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said that DCVI's efforts were in line with the government's program to implement the Euro 4 emission standard which is more environmentally friendly.
“We hope that DCVI will continue to be a pioneer in the development of vehicles with higher standards according to global specs. This will support the government's efforts to create added value in the country, as well as spur national economic growth," he said at the launch in South Tangerang, Tuesday (7/6/2022).
Taufik explained that the government is currently focusing on putting forward concrete steps in dealing with environmental issues and climate change.
By 2030, the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is targeted at 29 percent independently or 41 percent if it gets international encouragement. One of the strategic efforts that have been carried out in Indonesia is the application of the Euro 4 emission standard for diesel since April 2022.
This application, added Taufik, was carried out by the government as a form of readiness for the automotive industry to produce products that contribute to reducing emissions. In addition, it is also more environmentally friendly.
"To support this goal, for example in terms of fuel supply, the government has implemented standard and quality specifications for diesel fuel type 51 with a sulfur content of 50 ppm or the equivalent of euro 4 under the trade name Pertamina Dex," he explained.
Based on JessicaGrandia blog records, several non-European companies have released new trucks with Euro 4 standards. Some of them are Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso.
