The virality of the lato-lato game creates curiosity for people who have never tried playing the game.

Lato-lato games are in demand by children to adults. Some are just for fun until some are serious and contrived to compete.

A simple toy consisting of two hard balls on the ends of a string, and held by the center of the string to be played with which makes a sound.

Reported by Jzeey from the Instagram page @matanajwa, on January 1, 2023.

It was from the sound that this toy came from, where some say the game is called lato-lato, katto-katto, and etek-etek.

Whereas in English the lato-lato is called click-klax or clacker. Where the clacker itself was very popular in the United States in the 60s to 70s.

Unfortunately, in 1971, the country's Food and Drug Administration issued a clackers hazard warning, which referred to 4 cases of injury from clackers splinters.

Even in 1985, 4,600 clackers were also withdrawn from circulation in Arizona. Even though it was not popular anymore, clacker seemed reluctant to be forgotten.

So that in the 1990s, this toy rose again and got the side of politicians as well when in 2017 this toy in Egypt got the nickname 'Sisi Pendulum' or 'Sisi's Ball' which refers to the name Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who is a military general who became president.

However, after the coup against President Morsi in 2013, there was a clacker seizure which consisted of thousands of clackers seized.

In addition, the Minister of Education at that time also directed teachers to confiscate clackers because they were judged and called offensive or attacks.

Furthermore, the way the lato-lato game works is by balancing two balls made of wood or plastic with the help of rope or thread.

Next, the player must hit the two balls using his hands to move them up and down in a balanced way and continue to collide repeatedly and make a loud tick-tock sound.

To determine the winner in this traditional lato-lato game, who can last the longest in swinging the ball.
